Don't Let Meghan Markle Trigger You

Uncategorized Apr 04, 2025

Last week I talked about how I've been tryin' to hold on through a wild season of change.

This week? Let's talk about that wheel that gets extra wobbly during times like this: Friendship.

And to be real, I’m not just talking about friendships.

I’m talking about the shame and tension that comes with not being the friend you wish you could be.

You know what I mean, right? That pressure to be intentional, thoughtful and consistent—when you’re just trying to make it through your day.

Let me tell you what triggered all this for me.

I’ve been watching Meghan Markle’s new show, With Love, From Meghan. And listen—she is lovely. She’s kind. She’s intentional. She’s making jam, harvesting honey, wrapping sweet little gifts with handwritten notes and natural twine. SIGH...

And the whole time I’m watching, I’m thinking…

“I must be the worst friend.”

Because, come on...

  • I’m running a business that just pivoted.
  • I’m building out and launching Reinvention Hub.
  • I’m in the middle of a six-figure home renovation.
  • I’ve got new clients, deadlines, team calls, board meetings…
  • And my closest friends? The ones who used to live in my building? We're all now a 40-minute drive away.

So while Meghan’s over there crafting marmalade from her orange grove (which I fully support, by the way), I’m over here trying to choose bathroom tile and not lose my mind.

And, of course, I want to be that woman.

The one who makes focaccia.

The one who clips fresh blooms from the garden.

But today?

I’m the woman logging into Zoom calls from her car, racing from a site visit to a strategy session.

And if you’re in a season like mine, I want you to hear this loud and clear:

It’s okay if you’re not “that woman” right now.

There are seasons for all of it.

But this might not be that season. And the worst thing we can do is stop dreaming because we feel like we’re failing the dream.

So instead of spinning out, here’s how I’m coping:

  • I’m naming the season I’m in.
  • I’m protecting my energy as a practice of radical acceptance.
  • And I’m committing to forward motion—because remember, it's just a season, and the next season is on the horizon.

This week, I want you to ask yourself: What does radical acceptance look like for you right now?

You're okay. I'm okay. Let's protect our peace.

With love, from me ๐Ÿ˜‰
