I’m pretty sure this drives my team crazy but I usually wait until Friday morning to write this. I have a hard time landing the plane on my thoughts until I absolutely have to. So Happy Friday, Friends!
Here goes. Since COVID hit, I can unequivocally say that I’ve been chasing rest and not moving from the center of it.
Earlier this week during an episode of the Just Podcast, my buddy Rob Shields and guest Terrance Ruth got on the topic of rest. Rob is reading a book called the Ruthless Elimination of Hurry and the question he dropped, rocked me a little.
Are you leading and living from a place of rest or are you working all day to get the chance to rest?
For years I’ve called BS on chasing balance (that ain’t a real thing). Now I'm wondering if instead, we shouldn’t aim to love, play and work from a place of rest.
What would it look like to not be in a hurry - for just one day?
These things shouldn’t feel like a luxury or out of reach. I mean really, if they do, we need to slow down.
Yesterday, Flo and I practiced slowing down. For those that don’t know, Flo is the superstar that pulls me out of my introverted shell and onto social media. We decided, on purpose, not to rush through our list. And just agreeing to that approach took the pressure off; and we had one of the most fun, creative and productive days I can remember.
This organic experiment gave me the fresh perspective I needed to "land the plane" this morning. Remember, in my last newsletter I mentioned that we’ve been up to something since Spring. Well, here's the skinny.
We’ve taken all the feedback from our 21 Day of Reinvention series and developed the 28 Day Reinvention Road Trip Cohort specifically for my high-performing ladies out there.includes a new book, a workbook and weekly check-ins. Next month we release the beta version and with my new mindset around rest, I’m looking forward to slowing down and placing the finishing touches.
I tell ya, this is the good stuff, fam! The journey keeps getting better and better.
We’re almost there…slow but sure.
